It's that time of year again, where we try to be better versions of ourselves....

January passing you by? February coming up like a speeding bullet? If so, you aren't alone. 2019 seems to be flying already but that doesn't mean it's too late to stick to your New Year's Resolution of getting into better shape. Whether you're getting a late start or looking for new ways to up your fitness game as the year goes on, hopefully my health and fitness blogs will become a great resource to support your fitness journey.
Believe me, I know how much work is involved in achieving true transformation. I am now as healthy, fit and strong as I have ever been. Being fit has enabled me to do things that I never thought possible. You’ll also be pleased to know there was very little kale involved in my success! I have become a fitness coach because I want to help people do the same and hopefully I will, but just reaching one person and giving them what I've got would mean so much to me.
I’ll be providing a mine of useful information, stories, tips, anecdotes, products, and ideas. My blogs will give you new exercises and recipes, answer any questions or concerns you may have, as well as offer you a body-positive and knowledgeable community to connect and interact with. No Gym, no problem!

How to create New Year’s Resolutions that actually stick
So! Happy Resolutions, friends new and old! I always look forward to a bright, shiny new year and a chance to start over with a clean slate. There’s something magical about cracking open a new planner and filling it with ideas, events and goals for the upcoming year. I know many of us are making resolutions and action plans for 2019, so I thought I’d chat a little bit about some tips I use for making these goals as effective and achievable as possible. Some things I find helpful include…

Visualise. I’m a huge believer in the power of a robust vision. Pinterest is awesome for creating boards, but I prefer keeping inspirational quotes, pictures and articles on my iPad or phone so I can look at them quickly when I need reminding of why I’m working so bloody hard! Find a way that suits but stay mindful of your goals. When you have visual reminders of what you’d like to accomplish, you’re much more likely to take steps each day to make it happen.
Enlist a friend. Find a friend who’s going after the same or similar goals and support each other! I’m so thankful that I have supportive family and friends who I can persuade to exercise and do things with. I can talk to them about my failures, successes, and we can pick each other up when we’re struggling. We can laugh at how no matter how fit I get I am still the slowest runner EVER!

Model others’ success. I’m not saying to go full-on copycat mode, but if someone did something you want to accomplish, find out how they did it. Follow the same steps. Usually an accomplishment isn’t a crazy rocket science equation. It’s following specific actions and showing up consistently.
Be realistic. Set yourself goals that are achievable, if they’re big ones, break them down into manageable chunks and work on them a chunk at a time. If you dream of being a London Marathon superstar but have never run before, your first chunk might be to join a parkrun or do a 5k.
Be kind to yourself. Don’t beat yourself up if you have abad day and fall off your wagon. We all have them. We all struggle sometimes when life gets in the way. You will almost certainly be your harshest critic and we all need to be better at giving ourselves a break! Create a list of rewards for yourself when you hit milestones along the way. Run a faster mile? Get a new running top or fitness tracker. Completed your push up challenge? Pick up some new leggings. Worked out consistently all month? Book a facial or massage! Think about the treats that will motivate you. (A massage always does the trick for me.)
Read. There are SO MANY inspirational and developmental books, blogs and websites out there to support your goals. One of my current favourites is the Worlds Fittest Book by Ross Edgely. (He’s just swam around the UK).
Anyway….Have a very happy 2019! I can’t wait to see what this year brings, and am so excited to hear about everything you accomplish.
Xoxo
Think Pink!
